Read the following passage carefully ,the answer
the questions that follow.
Farmer today are much more fortunate than their forefathers who had to work
laboriously to earn a meagre living from the ground.Due to industrialization
,there are fewer workers on the farms, hence the development of machines.
Tractors which were invented to take the place of horses were one of the earliest
machines on farms .Then came the plough to turn the soil and leave it exposed
to the air. Another machines which is more advanced can do more than that .The
plough cultivator, besides turning the soil, can break it back up later and
then level the ground to get it ready for cultivation.
The seed machine ,towed by a tractor, can drill evenly spaced holes in the ground
and then sow seeds into them. To ensure that the right amount of seeds are sown,
a metering unit can be attached. Manrue and fertilizer spreading can be done
by a specially designed tractor.there is yet another machine which can reap
as well as thresh the crops during harvesting.
Milking machines are now being used on dairy farms. These have pumping mechanisms
whih resemble the sucking process of calves.
